Manifesting Intentions Quickly

An intention is simply put, a desire that you want to manifest (or create the reality of) into your life. The problem is, many people have great intentions for their lives but fail to manifest them in a timely manner, or even at all for that matter. In my last post titled, “Self-Limiting Beliefs”, you learned about what hinders most people from effectively attracting what they want into their lives. Today, I’ll speak of the main things that actually promote fast and effective intention-manifestation.

1. Be Persistent

The number one problem for most people, and the greatest challenge for myself even, is mastering the art of persistence. Many times, people start off in the right direction—they get their thoughts on their intentions, their emotions, etc. But then, they begin to slack and start dwelling on the things they don’t want more and more. After a while, very little energy is put into what is was actually being intended to begin with.

Remember: If you are intending to NOT get something, you’ll only get more of it because THAT is what you’re focusing on.

Here’s something that works for me: Create a schedule for exactly how you’re going to manifest your intentions, and then make a commitment to stick with it for a whole month—because that’s a more attainable goal than making a commitment for life. After 30 days, you’ll find it’s easier to continue your newly formed habits.

I make a point to meditate on my intentions at least once a day, but the more the better. During these sessions I’m visualizing myself in the third person, having already achieved my intentions and I try my best to experience the positive emotions I would be feeling when those intentions are manifested into my reality (more on that in #2—next section).

Additionally, whenever I get a spare moment of thought in the day, I think of exactly what I want to manifest and avoid thinking of the things I don’t want.

I start my day off listening to the “Attraction Activator” audio that comes with the “Attraction Accelerator” package, and while listening I first write down all the things I’m grateful for—and why (to get more positive emotion involved with my gratitude). Then I write down my overall intention that I’m trying to manifest (yes, this is often the same every day until that intention is actually manifested). Lastly, I write down the steps I “plan” on carrying out towards my intentions for that day—sometimes I get them all done, sometimes I don’t.

My above “start-up” plan, combined with meditation, positive affirmations, and various brainwave entrainment audios contribute to a great deal of energy that I pour into my intentions each day, and I normally experience very positive results quickly because of it. For the times that I don’t, there’s usually an underlying problem somewhere that I need to first identify—something that conflicts with one of the things I mention in this post.

It might take a little self-discipline to stick with a set “manifestation” schedule and stop thinking of what you don’t want, but in time, you’ll learn to block out negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts of the things you do want. Be a daydreamer—think constantly of what you’re trying to manifest in a positive way, and stick with it!

2. Experience Positive Emotions

Your positive thoughts towards your intentions broadcast a certain amount of energy that contributes to attracting that particular intention, but sometimes mere thoughts are relatively weak and don’t “broadcast” very much in terms of attraction “power”. Emotions, however, are extremely powerful—and unfortunately, even when they are negative.

I’ll give you an example of how someone might NOT get what they want, and illustrate the sheer power of emotion.

Dave, my fictional character i’ll be using for illustrating my points, is a guy who’s been working Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm at a local factory in his hometown for the past five years. Dave’s lifelong passion has been working on cars, and what he wants for his life is to open up his very own auto shop in another city that he considers “much better” for him than the town he currently lives in.

Dave is currently, and unfortunately… not very happy with his life.

Every weekend, Dave relaxes, watches TV, works on his car in the garage and mostly does “mindless” activities to relax on his days off to prepare for another work week—because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do right? (Dave is a typical victim of the social conditioning that we’re all exposed to)

Dave often thinks about his dream, and it even brings him happiness (a very powerful emotion). Usually though, amongst his positive thoughts, he thinks about how he could never afford to open up his own shop, and how hard it would be to get the things needed to do so, and ultimately views his intention as just an “impossible” dream for him.

Dave is constantly thinking about how he hates his job and wishes he could quit it to pursue his lifelong dream of running his own auto shop in… “Betterville” (so we’ll call it :-) ). While thinking of his current job and how much he wants to quit, Dave experiences anger, frustration and depressive feelings.

So what I just described was Dave often taking some time to think positively, and even beginning to experience happy emotions thinking of his intentions, but ultimately cancels them out with negative thoughts. Those thoughts stimulate stressful, worrisome, and self-defeating emotions which ultimately cancels out the little bit of positive energy he began to “broadcast” towards his intentions.

Additionally, because Dave constantly thinks of how he hates his job and wants to quit, he is broadcasting negative energy and emotion (anger, frustration, depression, etc.) towards exactly what he doesn’t want: his current job, hometown, and overall life situation.

Unfortunately for Dave, on this track and at the rate he’s going, guess where he’ll be 5, 10, or even 15 years down the road: still at his current job and life situation, or something much worse. As it turns out, Dave is very good at broadcasting thought-power, emotions, and overall energy—but unfortunately it’s all directed at what he doesn’t want.

So if Dave sounds anything like YOU, don’t be afraid, instead be thankful that you can recognize that and start directing your emotions and positive energy ONLY towards what you want (your intentions).

3. Be Very Specific About Your Intentions

A vague intention is relatively weak, and will take much longer to manifest into your life than an intention that is very specific and precise.

If you want to attract a better job into your life, don’t leave it at that. State what job, the exact position, how much you want to be earning, etc. It also helps to write it down to keep the details consistent. Refer to it every day, and preferably multiple times per day to keep yourself focused on exactly what you want.

In my “Dave” example, he was very specific about what he didn’t want, and that’s exactly what he attracted into his life. On top of everything else, the fact that he was more specific about what he didn’t want and was relatively vague about what he DID want was enough to keep himself doomed to his current state of being.

Dave knew exactly the job he didn’t want, exactly where he didn’t want to live, exactly how much he made with that job, etc.  All of those details came automatically and effortlessly to him because he was already in that current situation—which means he needed to put even more emphasis on the exact details of the things he did want (a name for the auto shop he wanted to open, what exactly he would be doing at his shop, the street his house would be on in the city he wanted to live, etc).

So to sum it all up: know exactly what you want, write it down, and read it to yourself often.

4. Never Hold Conflicting Intentions

A conflicting intention is one that goes against your intention or desire that you want manifested into your life. An example is that if I intend to increase my monthly income by $1,000, a conflicting intention would be thoughts about how my bills make that difficult, and that my current income, combined with cutting some expenses, saving more, etc. might not amount to $1,000 extra each month.

I’ve already touched on this but it’s worth mentioning again: Don’t dwell on what you don’t want, or why what you DO want isn’t possible, or over-worry (or even “worry” at all) about the challenges of getting what you want, even if you do believe it is possible for you.

The thing to remember is, put your energy into what you DO want, and what you DON’T want will ultimately be cancelled out completely :-)

5. Believe

In order for any of this to be effective, you need to have faith in not only yourself, but your intention, and that you can in fact “manifest” your intentions. If you’re at all skeptical or have doubt, you’re holding a conflicting intention of disbelief that will only work against your positive efforts—in other words, you’ll attract failure from the very beginning.

So first, truly believe not that you can do it, but that you WILL manifest your desired intentions into your life.

Then, you need to believe in the process itself. Fully believe that if you put positive energy into what you want that you’ll get it, and inversely, if you put any negative energy into what you don’t want, that it will only hinder you from your goals.

Another reason to shed any doubt from yourself is that having doubt is only “broadcasting” more negative energy into what you don’t want.

Conclusion

All of the things I mentioned above is going to take quite a bit of patience, and a lot of practice to get it all down perfect, but remember to be persistent and you will get there eventually. I challenge you to apply everything I mentioned in this article for at least 30-days, and I guarantee you’ll be surprised with your results—and you’ll definitely want to continue on with it past the 30-day mark (it only takes an average of three weeks to create a habit).

And lastly, don’t be like Dave, but do learn from him. Be thankful that you now possess the knowledge to successfully manifest what you want into your life… and relatively quickly at that. In fact, follow the advice I outlined here, and the speed at which you manifest your intentions into your life may even seem miraculous :-)

Update: After applying the things mentioned in this article, please read the final and most important step to manifesting your intentions quickly: taking courageous action

P.S. Also be thankful that “Dave” is just a fictional character… even though there are unfortunately countless people who are in his shoes, and far worse at that. I certainly hope everyone who reads this article puts knowledge to action and avoids being a “Dave”—trapping themselves into a situation they don’t want.

P.P.S. No offense to anyone named “Dave” … but don’t feel bad, it’s actually part of my very own first name (Jonathan David), so I thought it would be safe to use ;-)

I certainly cannot disagree with anything you have said in this article-excellent. I only have one thing to add. No matter what your intentions or goals are, you must be prepared to take action. I am, of course, speaking of inspired action. Too many people take all the steps-visualization, brain wave entrainment, affirmations and all of the things that support manifestation and then when presented with an intuitive or inspired opportunity, fail to take that absolutely necessary step of taking inspired action. Many people that follow the Law of Attraction seem to think that manifestation is some how magical and action (work) is not required. Work is still the basis for any manifestation and (caution cliche ahead) massive action manifests massive results.

I completely agree, Stan, in fact I was going to touch on that in another article, because it is very very true.

In fact, with as popular as the movie “The Secret” was, that’s something they seemed to leave out of it.

Action is a very important step, and I touched on it in the above article when I mentioned that part of my “start-up” plan in the morning is to write down the action steps I plan on taking for that day towards my intentions.

Thanks for the great input Stan, it’s greatly appreciated :-)

Haha, I’ll have to agree with that one Igor… you think he’ll read my article? :-D

Anyway, I can’t wait for your upcoming product to be released! I feel privileged to have “beta” tested it, and think it will be very helpful to my readers.

Thanks for the great information and i look forward to reading more from your wonderful Blog.

I also agree that taking action is essential

All the inspiration in the world mostly goes to waste become we fail to keep the momentum.

Momentum is the key to putting that inspiration from dream to reality…

Jonathan July 12, 2009 at 3:17 pm

@Cosmetic Surgery Thailand: Thanks for your input! It’s easy for people to have inspiration, and that’s the first step in the whole process but I think many fail to realize that taking action is what makes things happen.

Thanks again for the comment and I hope to see you around again!

The no 1 point mastering the art of persistence is the most important thing to get and by mastering this the law of attraction will definitely work for you.

@smith: thank you very much for your input, please share/email this article with your friends if you found it useful!

@Acai Berry: thank you very much for adding to the article, I completely agree that taking action is a very vital step. The article mostly outlines what must go on INSIDE your mind before you take action… I’ll soon write a follow-up article that will go in-depth on taking action.

Also, just as a sneak peak, I’m currently working on a 5-part course that will go in depth into all aspects of manifesting your intentions successfully–including taking action ;)

Very well written and uplifting article. I agree that persistence is very important to meeting your intentions, and thinking positively is another way to keep your focus on your goals.

Anonymous September 20, 2009 at 9:23 am

OK…I’m adding this for you which is working for me. It’s all sum up to this….”only focus on what you want not what you don’t want”.

Our subconcious is working upon our feelings and feelings is the effection of thoughts. Therefore focusing your thought on what you want can help you come closer to your goals.

When you complain so much about bad things that going on and feel so terrible about these things, it will be even worse. So stop it and start living the life that you want!!!
