Today’s post is about dealing with apathy, and how to rid yourself from this feeling—because it is among the lowest of the vibration levels, and will help produce only negative results when it comes to using your mind to attract your desired reality. And with that, you’ll also learn about whether or not the way you view things in life is merely an objective observation, or something that has been created entirely in your mind.
But before we get into anything, what is apathy? By definition, it is “the absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement”. (credit: dictionary.com)
So tell me, have you ever felt apathetic before?
Walking Down Memory Lane
When I was in high school, I often felt very apathetic about life—though I didn’t know there was a definition behind it. I just thought I was “ok”. Not necessarily good, but not so bad either, just… “blah”. I’m sure you’ve felt this way a time or two in your life, or perhaps you still do on occasion. The best way to describe how I felt during these apathetic times is that I felt extremely bored, had very little mental and physical energy to do anything, and had no motivation or a sense of purpose… I just was.
As I look back, I realize that a lot of teenagers suffer from apathetic feelings… which explains a lot of the behaviors that are common to many, and that were common to myself back then. Just to name a few… sleeping in until the mid-late afternoon without even having to stay up extraordinarily late the night before, constantly feeling like there’s “nothing to do”, and not having the energy or will-power to do anything anyway. Geez, all this time my friends and I thought we were just bored, broke, and lazy (perhaps that was part of it
)
Who’s to Blame?
So what if I told you that YOU are the only one to blame for your own apathy? That YOU are primarily responsible for whether you have motivation, a feeling of purpose, or emotion? Would you feel angry that I pointed the finger directly at you? Well, I hope not… but if that’s the case, at least anger is a higher vibration than apathy, so you’re already moving in the right direction
But if you can possibly hold off on that anger for a moment, allow me to explain why you’re the only person to blame for your own apathy.
If you are experiencing apathy, and are absent of emotion, passion, etc. then you are undoubtedly living in an apathetic world. Your world is slowly spinning, the people in it are doing “whatever”, they are dying, being born, and the cycle continues over and over. There is no purpose… and guess what, that is absolutely true—IF you are apathetic.
However, for many people there is a sense of purpose, happiness, sadness, love, etc. and although many of these people are in the same economic and social situation that you are, they are living in a world full of passion, emotion, and excitement. But we’re all on the same planet Earth so… what gives?
This is possible because you, as well as everyone else, create your own perception of the world, your life, and the things around you entirely in your mind. The reason why you started feeling this way may have a lot to do with how you were raised, social conditioning, or the people you associate with… but it ultimately boils down to what you have created in your own mind.
You Create Your Own Perception
If you are feeling apathetic, you’re actually correctly perceiving the world which you have created in your mind. Your world is fully of apathy, so you feel apathetic. You should be thankful, because you “work” just fine. So instead of trying to stop feeling apathy in an apathetic world, you should instead try to change your overall perception of the world.
If you look through a kaleidoscope, it doesn’t matter how good your vision is, how thoroughly you wipe the lens off, or how closely you try to look… everything is still going to be distorted and you’ll only strain your eyes. Likewise, if you continue to “try” to not feel apathetic when you are living in an apathetic world, you’ll not only strain yourself (cause inner-hardship), but the task will ultimately be impossible and you’ll eventually fall back into the deep hole of apathy.
So once you change your perception, you’ll ultimately change the world that’s around you, and from there you can work on NOT feeling apathetic. Because if you live in a world full of “passion, emotion, and excitement”, then it is completely unnatural to feel apathy.
How to “Create” a Better World
If you are currently feeling apathetic, you may feel like my advice is getting to you in a positive way, but as you currently experience and re-think your current situation, you just don’t know how you would stop feeling so void of emotion and purpose. You may have felt apathetic for so long, that it’s very difficult not to see the world this way, to NOT create an apathetic world. The good news is, confusion is still a step above apathy
But wait, rewind just a little. If you have just “thought” that you cannot see the world in any other way than apathetic, that it’s just “how the world” is then you are choosing to perceive it in that way. Your thoughts are creations in themselves, and you are creating apathy.
The first step to creating a “better world” is to believe that the world as you see it, as YOU perceive it, exists entirely in your mind—because without your mind, what would the world be to you? Absolutely nothing. This is because you’d be absent of consciousness. Have you ever underwent a surgery where you had to be put to sleep? Time flew by in an instant because you were completely unconscious. During those moments of unconsciousness, what was the world to you? Absolutely nothing because when you’re unconscious (especially in the state of induced sleep where you don’t even dream), your mind is essentially “turned off” for that period of time.
So the first step to creating a better world is to recognize that all conscious thought is creative, and that YOU create your perception of everything that is around you. So the next time you start viewing your life as meaningless, without purpose, and the world the same way, immediately stop yourself and consider the possibility that perhaps you are creating those feelings. From there, you should try your absolute hardest to create a feeling of happiness and joy.
It won’t come right off the bat, but with enough persistence and patience, you’ll be able to create the feelings of joy and happiness relatively easily. I just mentioned it, but it’s worth repeating that you must have persistence and patience throughout this entire process because what’s immediately beyond apathy is usually sadness, anger, and fear… which are all bad, but are still above apathy in terms of levels of consciousness and vibration.
So when you stop yourself after you recognize you are beginning to create apathy, after some time you may feel sadness that you can’t seem to “figure out” how to create joy. This sadness might lead to anger, and then with even more persistence, could possibly lead to the fear of not succeeding. Just remind yourself that you if feel any sadness, anger, or fear, that you are in fact moving in the right direction… and that is your cue to just keep moving forward, and never give up.
The best thing to do is to not dwell on any of the negative feelings. Try your best to experience positive emotions, and allow yourself to create the world, and the feelings you want to feel. Things such as meditation and brain wave entrainment can help greatly, and speed up the process by huge leaps and bounds.
Things to Help You Along the Way
First and foremost, stop watching the news. If you absolutely need to know what’s going on around you, and only for justifiable reasons (personal safety, etc.) stick to just reading your local paper—but that’s only if you have to. The point of everything I mentioned so far is to create your “own” world as you would like to see it, so you can then proceed onto creating your own feelings and emotions. Remember, the media is very good at making you see the world as they want you to see it, so it should be easy to see how watching the news could greatly hinder your aspirations.
If you have a habit of watching the news, and just don’t feel right about it, simply remind yourself that if it’s a big enough deal that actually matters, you’ll find out about it one way or another
I touched on this briefly not too long ago, but brain wave entrainment can greatly help you to induce desired emotional and mental states, in the same way meditation can… in fact, they can be used hand in hand to help you achieve many goals such as re-creating your perception of life and the world as a whole if you need to.
My brain wave membership site, Entrainment Lab (click to open in a new window), is the perfect fit for this. There are plenty of audios to choose from to help you with all the things I mentioned, and at the time of this writing a lifetime membership is only $7 so I highly recommend that you give this a shot.
If you’re unsure what brain wave entrainment is, read my article I wrote a while back titled, “What is Brain Entrainment?”, or you can view the Entrainment Lab website for a clear, easy-to-understand explanation.
Another thing I highly recommend is that you clearly define to yourself, whether it be out loud, on paper, or spoken from the depths of your heart, what exactly it is that you want in life, and then learn to manifest your desires.
My 5-Part course titled, “The Secret to Successful Manifesting” (which is also only $7 for the entire package at the time of this writing), will explain in an easy-to-follow format exactly how to go about getting exactly what you want out of life, to achieve what you need to live with a feeling of fulfillment, rather than apathy.
One Final Note
Unfortunately apathy is an all-too-common feeling that infects far too many people, and if you’ve gotten this far in reading this article, you either suffer from it and can relate, or you’ve suffered from it before and can relate so you know exactly what I’m talking about.
It’s a sad truth that feelings such as apathy and depression cause so many people to take their own lives so I’m hoping that this article has got you thinking positively and has opened your eyes to the possibility of a better world—remember, it’s all in your mind.
Apathy, and the fact that most people believe they are merely perceiving an objective world, and have no part in creating it in their own minds makes it a very dangerous level of consciousness.
